OUT OF A LOVE OF BAKING
One summer while developing breads for one of his restaurants, Founder Brys Stephens had a eureka moment in a walk-in freezer. Frozen butter mixed into freezing cold biscuit dough made the most delicous, tender, flaky biscuits and scones. Freezing the dough locked in freshness, and when baked from frozen the breads were better than homemade. Inspired, he wandered the grocery store freezer aisles and found that most frozen frozen breads were made with artificial ingredients, trans fats, and preservatives. So, he decided to bring his homemade-style breads to grocery stores to give families a better option. He named them after a centuries old Charleston bakery that had been converted into the home he and his family were living in at the time. So from scratch, Brothers Gerard Baking Company was born.
